I had a stroke while riding my bike in April 05. I lost use
of my right arm and leg. I have had some recovery but I still am unable to work.
I had to sell my bike to pay off the loan on it. If there is anyone out there
that could help a disabled and broke Biker

Technical stewards announced for AMA Racing Dirt Track Grand Championships
PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has
announced the technical stewards for the AMA Racing Dirt Track Grand
Championships, which will bring the fastest amateur dirt-track racers in the
country to Du Quoin, Ill., this June 27-July 4. Tryce Welch, the country's
leading authority on DTX bike setup and motors, will serve as chief DTX
technical steward, and technical consultant Josh Lynn will serve as chief
technical steward for all other disciplines.
"The fairness, and therefore success, of a national-caliber event such as
the AMA Racing Dirt Track Grand Championships depends on both comprehensive
technical knowledge and consistent enforcement," said Joe Bromley, AMA
director of racing. "Tryce's and Josh's knowledge and experience will
provide a level of comfort for the competitors that all equipment will be
built to exact class specifications."
Although Welch is well versed in all levels of dirt-track technology, his
area of expertise is in DTX machinery. DTX ("dirt-track cross") bikes are
motocross bikes modified for dirt-track competition. Welch will be available
on Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, to inspect DTX bikes for
compliance with stock rules and seal them for the week of competition.
"The Dirt Track Grand Championships are my favorite races of the year,"
Welch said. "I'm glad to help competitors with their DTX equipment and
ensure compliance with stock rules. A new professional opportunity keeps me
from spending the entire week at Du Quoin, but I didn't want to miss being
part of this great event."
Lynn is an independent technical consultant from Columbus, Ohio. He will be
responsible for all non-DTX rule compliance, as well as DTX-related duties
from Monday, June 29, through the final day of competition on July 4.
Ken Saillant, track racing manager for AMA Racing, added: "We are extremely
fortunate that Tryce and Josh have come on board to help with the AMA Racing
Dirt Track Grand Championships this year. The Du Quoin Fairgrounds already
provide a beautiful setting and excellent race tracks to showcase the
absolute best youth and amateur dirt-track racers in this country, and Tryce
and Josh will help make an already great event even better."
The AMA Racing Dirt Track Grand Championships feature a week of racing in
all four dirt-track disciplines -- short track, TT, half-mile and Mile.
Although competitors aren't required to compete in all events, champions
earn AMA Racing National No. 1 plates based on their accumulated points from
each individual event. The top racers will also battle for the AMA Racing
Dirt Track Horizon Award, which honors the amateur racer poised to make a
statement on the pro level.
Additional information about the AMA Racing Dirt Track Grand Championships
can be found in the Amateur Championships section of

Nomads bikie boss arrested on Gold Coast -
NEWS.com.au - THREE Nomads bikies, including the club's
president, have been charged with a variety of offences after police
raided their Gold Coast clubhouse.
Police have laid more than 15 charges relating to the possession of
weapons, drugs and ammunition against three men, who were arrested
during raids on seven properties across the Gold Coast.
Detectives say more arrests are possible.
More than 30 officers were involved in Operation Overt Strike, launched
this morning, that allegedly found a stockpile of weapons, including
knives, clubs, batons and pickhandles, at the Nomads' clubhouse in
Carrara.
Surfers Paradise Detective Sergeant Peter Gray alleged marijuana was
also found hidden in the clubhouse.
"The drugs were concealed in the cupboard, some were hidden under the
stairs, beside solvents and tins of paint, and others were around the
bar area,'' he said.
No guns were found but police located ammunition.
The 42-year-old club president and a 32-year-old man were arrested at
the scene and later charged.
A 25-year-old nominated member, arrested at one of the raided homes, is
due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Friday.
They each face drug and weapons charges.
The 25-year-old has also been charged with assault occasioning bodily
harm over a separate incident and remains in custody.
Sgt Gray said the Nomads were a well-established bikie group on the Gold
Coast.
"They've certainly flown under the radar - we haven't had really much
trouble with them ...,'' he said.
He said all three men were compliant on arrest.
Detectives from Taskforce Hydra, established in 2006 to investigate
motorcycle gang activity, were also involved in the raids.

Gobert was traveling on his motorcycle on La. 361 near Palmetto when he

Air Force identifies deceased airman - Pacific
Daily News - Capt. Michael L. Turner, a 38-year-old flight
commander stationed at Andersen Air Force Base, was killed last night
when the motorcycle he was driving struck a van in Dededo.
A press release from Andersen Air Force Base identified Turner this
afternoon. The military could not release his name until they told
Turner’s next-of-kin that he had perished.
Brig. Gen. Phil Ruhlman, commander at Andersen said the death was a
tragedy.
"Any time we lose one of our Airmen in such a sudden and tragic manner,
the entire Team Andersen family feels it," Ruhlman said in the release.
"We're saddened by the loss of Captain Turner and our deepest sympathies
and thoughts go out to his family."
According to a news release from police, Turner was riding a white
Suzuki motorcycle northward on Marine Corp Drive at about 10:30 p.m.
when he collided with a charcoal gray van.
The van was pulling out of the parking lot of the Dededo Retail Store.
Guam Police Department show that the motorcycle struck the rear door of
the van on the driver’s side.
The door crinkled inward like an empty soda car and several windows
shattered.
Medics took Turner to Guam Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced
dead, the police release states.
Harley event hits its stride - Laconia Citizen -
In its third year, the Harley-Davidson Road Tour has fully hit its
stride, attracting thousands of visitors to the downtown with a variety
of activities for bikers and non-bikers alike while also sending many of
those same visitors to explore nearby businesses.
Through 5 p.m. Saturday in the City Hall parking lot, the H-D Road Tour
— which is free and open to all — is offering visitors the opportunity
to walk through a museum of H-D history, to listen to live music and to
see performances by an "extreme" juggler who is also a unicyclist and by
motorcycle riders who risk injury in the confines of the "Sphere of
Fear."
There are food, clothing and art vendors; a "bike lift" to demonstrate
that even people who aren't physically strong can right a Harley that
can weigh up to 600 pounds; and for anyone who wants to know anything
about the area, the Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce has an
informational booth at the road tour.
Licensed riders can take a new Harley for a 12-mile demo ride around the
city and the road tour is the only place where Harley Owners Group (HOG)
members can get their official Laconia pin.
City officials in late 2006 recruited H-D to come to the downtown from
what had been its previous longtime home at the New Hampshire Motor
Speedway in Loudon. Jenna Smith, who oversees the road tour, said her
company was as excited to come to Laconia as the city was to have it
there, beginning in 2007.
Since then, the road tour has refined its presentation in the City on
the Lakes to the point where all activities are centered at the city
hall parking lot, including H-D's second "Ride in" custom bike show
which was moved there from the former Laconia Train Station in nearby
Veterans Square.
The show is being held today, with registration from 9 a.m. to noon,
judging from noon until 3 and the awarding of prizes at 4 p.m. In all,
H-D will present $500 top prizes in 13 categories.
"We are very happy with the turnout," said Smith who promised that "We
will be back in Laconia next year" with the 2010 edition of the road
tour.
She said the number of people doing demo rides has "started out strong"
and was expected to peak on Saturday. Although Smith said H-D does not
disclose demo ride information, Laconia Police officers estimated that
more than 1,000 riders had left the city hall lot on demo rides through
mid-afternoon Wednesday.
In addition to riding, there is also plenty of opportunity at the road
tour to ogle the latest H-D rides, including the Iron 883, the XR1200
and the brightly orange-colored CVO Ultra.
Carla Peterson, who with her husband, Carl, owns of Hector's Restaurant,
said the road tour was doing exactly what local businesses were hoping
it would do: Bring people to the downtown. She applauded the decision to
relocate the food vendors, who also included the Water Street Cafe, to
within the road tour fence.
Last year, the vendors were in a separate area, immediately adjacent to
City Hall, "but this year seems better," said Peterson, who was serving
up burgers, hot dogs and turkey wraps. "There's a lot more traffic.
People are where you are."
Having the road tour in the downtown is a good thing, she added. "It
makes it alive, people are walking around," Peterson said, and seeing
what else, besides the road tour, the downtown has to offer.
Local resident Ed Darling said he was "very impressed: with the road
tour. "It's a good crowd and definitely there's a lot of people going in
and out of the stores."
Warren Clement, who owns the Sundial Shop on Main Street said he and his
fellow merchants are glad that the H-D road tour is calling downtown
home for the next three days.
"It brings a little bit of Bike Week to the heart of the city," he said.
Smith stressed the universal appeal of both the rally and the road tour.
"Bike Week isn't just for bikers," said Smith. "We're proud to be here
once again and we enjoy seeing everybody. We're like old friends."

Jesse James Shatters a Land Speed Record for a Hydrogen Powered Vehicle
- Prdomain Business Register (press release) -
17 Jun 2009 , Calif : Jesse James Successfully Reaches 199.7mph While
Filming His Hit Show "Jesse James Is A Dead Man" on Spike TV
Jesse James successfully shattered the land speed record for a hydrogen
powered vehicle yesterday in the Mojave Desert. James attempted the
challenge while filming his hit television show "Jesse James Is A Dead
Man" which premiered May 30, 2009. The show was filmed yesterday and
will air as the season one finale of "Jesse James Is A Dead Man"
premiering on Sunday, August 9 (10:00 PM, ET/PT) on Spike TV.

Jesse's time was documented by the Southern California Timing
Association and beat the previous record holder, the BMW H2R, which
previously held the land-speed record for an H2 car of 185mph in
Germany. The vehicle used by Jesse was an emission free vehicle with a
"Breathable Exhaust."
Jesse went to El Mirage Dry Lake Bed with an extreme purpose: to break
the land speed record of 185 MPH for a hydrogen-fueled vehicle. It's a
record that has long been on his mind and it has not been an easy road
getting here. Jesse has consulted the help of legendary land speed racer
Mike Cook. Mike gave Jesse invaluable advice on the design of the car.
He also helped Jesse pick up the nuance of driving the car and was with
him in the testing phase. Engine wizard Kurt Urban came from Detroit and
auto row to help him develop a superior hydrogen engine: an internal
combustion throwback to the days of overpowering American steel.
Together they created an emission free vehicle that will dispel any
notions of the power of alternative fuels. Jesse prepared for a worst
case scenario situation by escaping from a burning fuselage, narrowly
avoiding injury and testing his mettle to the limit.
"Jesse James Is A Dead Man" is being produced for Spike TV by executive
producers Jesse James and Hildie Katibah through his production company,
Payupsucker Productions, in conjunction with executive producers John
Brenkus and Mickey Stern of BASE Productions ("Sport Science," "Crime
360"). Kevin Lee also serves as executive producer. Sharon Levy and Tim
Duffy are executives in charge of production for Spike TV.
Jesse James is a custom bike and car builder, producer, publisher,
television host and restaurateur. In 2000, James started his TV career
with Discovery Channel's "Motorcycle Mania," and in 2002 produced and
starred in the international television hit, "Monster Garage." Before
his TV gigs, James started West Coast Choppers by doing what he loved,
building motorcycles in his mom's garage. As an expert welder, James
produces only 12-14 bikes a year, making a very long wait list for his
coveted custom machines.
More recently, James established his own production company, Payupsucker
Productions, and in 2004, he became publisher of Garage Magazine and
launched Payupsucker Publications. In 2006 he opened an eco-friendly
burger joint, Cisco Burger, in Long Beach, CA.

Norwalk police sergeant suffers facial injuries in accident -
The Hour - Sgt. Russell Fallo, a 35-year
veteran of the department who will retire July 1, was admitted to
Norwalk Hospital with an undisclosed injury to his nose, according to
state police. Norwalk Fire Department Deputy Chief Dave Lepus said a
report from firefighters who responded to the scene mentioned that Fallo
had bloody facial injuries.
Police Chief Harry Rilling said Fallo was released from Norwalk Hospital
on Wednesday.
The accident occured at 11:54 a.m. on Tuesday when the driver of the
Honda Civic hesitated while making a right turn onto West Avenue from
the exit 15 off ramp, state police said.
Fallo, who was riding his Honda Goldwing behind the car, rear-ended the
vehicle, state police said.
Fallo was issued a ticket for following too close, state police said.
Officers from the Norwalk Police Department recently marked Fallo's

House rejects motorcycle helmet change -
The Times-Picayune - NOLA.com - BATON ROUGE -- The House thwarted
an attempt today to bring back a bill that would let adult motorcyclists
choose whether to ride with helmets.
Lawmakers voted 51-39 to amend Senate Bill 168 by Sen. Neil Riser,
R-Columbia, which would have required the use of seat belts by all
occupants of a vehicle, to repeal the helmet mandate. Lawmakers then
killed the bill, 49-40, four votes short of what is needed to pass it in
the House.
Rep. Jim Morris, R-Oil City, said he had Riser's permission to turn the
bill into one allowing persons 21 and older to ride without helmet if
they had at least $100,000 of insurance.
The House passed an identical bill by Morris earlier in the session by a
vote of 64-33, but when it hit the Senate Health and Welfare Committee,
the panel refused to make a motion on the bill, bottling it up.
"It is a freedom of choice thing," Morris said.
House Speaker Pro Tem Karen Carter Peterson, D-New Orleans, asked the
House to vote against the amended bill.
"I don't think this is the right thing to do for safety considerations,"
she said. "Safety precautions outweigh that freedom of choice. In public
policy, it is a balancing act."
